Cascades Students Are Making A Difference

Cascades students and staff participated in two special projects for Make A Difference Day, by working with long time community partner Skagit Community Action Agency, in assisting one of their clients with a residential moving project. A large perentage of Community Action’s clients are seniors and are disabled. Student volunteers moved the client’s belongings from a local storage facility to their new residence.

The center also partnered with a local radio station and the City of Sedro-Woolley to promote recycling awareness. People dropped off their old televisions, computers, monitors, lap tops, and cell phones that were collected by the students at the city’s recycling center. The cell phones will be repaired and then donated to Skagit Domestic Violence.

The donations totaled over 2,000 pounds to be recycled and not thrown away as garbage. the activities received two weeks of advanced promotion from two local radio stations that included a series of live interviews with Cascades’ Business and Community Liaison.
