In October, Cascades Job Corps held a blood drive for the Puget Sound Blood Center. Twice each year, students and staff volunteer their time and donate to this important cause. The blood donations collected are critical in order to maintain a stable blood supply for medical emergencies and for supporting patients battling life threatening illnesses like cancer and leukemia.
Each weekday, 900 people must donate blood to meet the needs of patients in Western Washington hospitals, and blood drives like the one at Cascades plays an important role in helping meet that goal. The Cascades’ drive registered 71 donors and collected 59 units of blood. The center will hold it’s next blood drive on April 5th 2012.
