On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Cascades Job Corps held an engaging event that provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of its offerings. Attendees included Representative Rick Larson, Sedro-Woolley’s Mayor Julia Johnson, the Port of Skagit and local organizations and community leaders. The gathering featured a variety of refreshments prepared and served by Culinary Arts students, highlighting the practical training provided by the center.
Attendees explored information booths hosted by students from various trades, gaining valuable insights into the Job Corps program. Cascades Job Corps offers career and technical training across multiple fields, including Hospitality, Information Technology, Finance and Business, Health Care, and Homeland Security.
The event kicked off with inspiring Opening Remarks from Kendra Watson, Director of Cascades Job Corps Center. Watson praised the exceptional achievements of both current students and alumni, underscoring the program’s impact and shared how Job Corps serves the community. Paris Hansberger, President of the Cascades Job Corps Student Government Association presented and shared her personal journey and the profound influence Job Corps has had on her life.
Following the presentations, attendees were joined by Center staff on a detailed tour of the campus, including its trade facilities. This hands-on exploration allowed visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse programs and resources available at Cascades Job Corps.
