The CTT Green Team members celebrated Carville Garden Day. The Facilities Maintenance students decided to take out the planter boxes they installed in the garden area last year and replace them with a “real” garden, as they called it. They have been preparing the garden area by tilling and weeding the area. The students also prepared the rows for planting. Once all the preparation was complete the students planted the seeds for this year’s “harvest”. It didn’t take long before several students and staff members came over to the area to see the crops that were planted as the started to grow.  Green Team members planted tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, cayenne peppers, cucumbers, squash and beans and harvested the crops on last week.  The students are planning to remove the old planter boxes in the green houses and modify them to maximize the use of space in the green houses for the fall and winter garden.
