The Carville student leadership team volunteered a Saturday morning assisting the Together Baton Rouge Mobile Food Pantry in distributing fresh food and produce to elderly Scotlandville Community residents who are residing in what the USDA considers a food desert. (A Community with no major grocery or fresh produce chain within a 3 mile radius). The Mobile pantry has to date, distributed nutritious food items to 2415 households feeding 8103 individuals with over 96,300 pounds of food. The USDA and Together BR offers this service twice monthly to the Scotlandville Community. Thanks Carville ‘s Leadership Team!
