Carville Job Corps Center Commencement Day 2012

 

Carville Job Corps Center hosted its 14th Semi Annual Commencement on August 24, 2012 at 10:30a.m. in the center’s gymnasium. Ninety-one student employees from across the state of Louisiana and the state of Florida turned tassels as a significant milestone in their lives. The graduating class received congratulatory expressions from former 2007 Carville graduate speaker Ms. Nishea Isaac. Ms. Isaac spoke to graduates about how she first heard of job corps and her experience’s while enrolled and how her WBL assignment at TURNER Industries turned into fulltime employment for her. She also told the graduates to never tell their employer/boss-No- until they were their own boss. Ms. Isaac remains a fulltime employee to date with Turner Industries,. She is also pursing an associate degree in Radiology and also is a member of the company volunteer board, TEAM Turner. Keynote speaker was the Honorable Randell M. Gaines- Louisiana State Representative-District 57 of St John the Baptist Parish. Representative Gaines asked the graduating class to pursue their goals with no social interruptions. Never give up or in to persons on the wrong track. He applauded their efforts and accomplishments. He also thanked the parents for their support and allowing Job Corps to train them. U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu sent a congratulatory letter to the graduates requesting that it be read to them during the ceremony commending them on their momentous accomplishment and thanking them for investing in their future by continuing their education. Senator Landrieu also stated to the graduates that “your investments of time and your achievements make you a leader and set the example for others to follow”. She ended her letter with a quote from the late Aristotle, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, it is not an act but a habit”. GOOD LUCK!! Carville Graduates
