Team effort when the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps students assisted with the Veterans Emergency Homeless Shelter Ground Breaking Ceremony
Construction students worked the week of March 28th, to assist the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5839 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to help clear debris off the site and set up tents for the ceremony. Despite cold temps and strong winds, the students got the job done. Culinary students assisted in preparing vegetable and sandwich trays for guests. On the day of the event, Security & Protective Services students provided assistance with parking and directing traffic, culinary students served food to the guests. It was a team effort by all students to help with this event and the day went as planned.
The veteran’s homeless shelter will provide temporary housing for veteran’s who need somewhere to stay as a result of an emergency situation. The Perkins center is proud to be able to help with such a good cause.
