Summer is coming to a close but that does not mean the fun stops. Friday, September 16, 2022 proved to be a memorable day on center. Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Outreach and Admissions staff, Melody McCoy and Sabrina Hayden hosted some end of the Summer fun. Students and staff had a great time playing corn hole and basketball. There were many activities on center and everyone had a great time. Other activities included music, dancing and karaoke with DJ Timmy Lykins. Students Dalton Zornes, Ethan Edwards, Makaylia Hamilton, Ronald Logan and Georgia Cooley showed off their vocal skills. Everyone enjoyed the tasty food served by The Lunchbox and catering food truck from Salyersville, KY. Recreation Specialist, Iwayan Sukedana said, “Thank you to all our students for participating and thanks for the yummy and delicious food.”
Also, students had the opportunity to see some exotic animals and reptiles up close and personal. Although students were not permitted to hold or touch the animals they did get to see some unusual creatures. Admission Counselor, Esther Haley, and her daughter brought lizards, ferrets, turtles and various species of snakes for students to observe. Many students even took photos of the snakes. Carl D. Pekins Job Corps Student, Michael Bennett said, “I have always wanted to see a ferret in person and I finally got my chance.” More fun included water balloons, a table of sweet treats, frisbee, bonfire and an evening weenie roast. Every day is a great day to be a part of the Perkins Job Corps family.
