Staff at Carl D. Perkins Job Corps are always looking for new innovative ways to
help the students prepare for their futures. On June 14, Lamar Davis with the
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation was on center to conduct a “Train the
Trainer” workshop for employees. The four-hour workshop teaches the
participants how to use the Money Smart program by utilizing presentations,
demonstrations and exercises. Center Director Paula Davis, the Finance &
Administration staff and the CTR staff participated in the training.
These participants now can train other staff to use the Money Smart program with
students.
The Money Smart program is a free online program that offers engaging and
enriching activities for finance literacy and economics instruction for students,
grades 9-12. The activities use language arts, math, social studies and
economics to help students build the foundation to become financially responsible
adults. Developing positive financial habits equips students with 21st century skills and tools that last a lifetime.
