CDP Advance Security at Jamey Johnson Concert

Saturday, September 10, 2022 is going to be an exciting day for the following students:   Ronald Auna, Westly Bald Eagle, Jake Caines-Florez, Hector Cerecer Ayala, Georgia Cooley, Rebbeca Gonzalez, Makaylia Hamilton, Tahj James, Diamond Nelson, Matthew Pettit, Jamie Rodrigues, Jaquez Sparks and Jocelyn Yates. Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Advanced Training Security students are scheduled to assist with event security at the Appalachian Wireless Arena. Security will be provided for Grammy nominated, Country music singer and songwriter, Jamey Johnson. He is scheduled to perform alongside American rock band, Blackberry Smoke and Country music artist Megan Maroney.

 

            The Appalachian Wireless Arena is located in Pikeville, KY and is a 126,000 square-foot performance and event venue that can seat up to 7,000 people. Students will have several duties. In addition to parking, students will be placed at security checkpoints and in key places throughout the arena to offer assistance. Students will aid to minimize actual and potential risks for the performers and audience. Advanced Training Security instructors, Ms. Beverly Compton and Mr. Christopher Stewart will escort students to the concert and transportation will be provided by the maintenance staff. This is a great opportunity for Perkins students to gain valuable Work Based Learning experience while making lasting memories. SPS AT student Hector Cerecer Ayala said, “I am excited to help provide security for someone famous.” The concert starts at 7:30 PM.
