On Saturday September 26, Carl D. Perkins students Brandi Fox, Keyana Williams and Deshawn Scott spent their Saturday assisting the US Army corps of engineers , Paintsville Kiwanis, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and Jenny Wiley State Park clean up trash from Jenny Wiley State Park. In observance of National Public lands Day, these organizations all met at the Terry Boat ramp to launch boats and do a trash clean up on Dewey Lake.

Despite the rainy cool temperatures for the 5 hour event, the volunteers were able to remove 47 bags of trash and a dozen of miscellaneous items for the shoreline. Lunch was provided for all by McDonalds of East Kentucky. Bottled water was provided by the Floyd County Rescue Squad.
