Carl D. Perkins Students Learn About Employment Opportunities with the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Representatives from the Kentucky Department of Personnel toured the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center May 16 and talked to students about employment opportunities with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Kentucky Personnel representatives meet with Career Transition Readiness coordinators at Carl D. Perkins Job Corps before their presentation to students about state employment opportunities.
Kentucky state employees Rebekah Singleton and Carly Guy from the Personnel Cabinet discussed the types of jobs that need to be filled as soon as possible, such as certified nursing assistants, housekeeping employees and highway technical workers. Other jobs openings include fish and wildlife technicians in the state parks.

Singleton and Guy were impressed with the lunch served by the Perkins Culinary Class, describing it as “first class.” After lunch, they showed students how to set up accounts on the state’s website, search for jobs, and get job alerts sent to their email and as text messages.

The staff and students at Carl D. Perkins Job Corps thank the state for sharing this wealth of information with our students. Some have already applied for open positions at the state parks.
