Perkins Construction students learn about Apprenticeships during the open house held in Ashland, KY on Thursday Wednesday, November 15. The Indiana, KY, Ohio Council of Carpenters and Millwrights offer a state of the art “earn while you learn” program. That means no school loans to pay back! The Carpenters Union offers a four-year accredited apprenticeship program. Once completed, graduates earn an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Ivy Tech College. Health and retirement benefits start now, for you and your family. You would be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; annuity, pension and much more. The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program offers one of the top carpenter apprenticeship programs in the nation.
The Perkins class had an opportunity to talk with current students in the apprenticeship program, tour the facility, and get hands on experience from a variety of mock set-ups throughout the event.
This is just one example of many experiences that Perkins offers as part of their training for students to see real world opportunities through job shadowing, internships, fieldtrips, and guest speakers.
