Carl D. Perkins students shadowed KY Senator Johnny Ray Turner on Thursday February 1st, in Frankfort, KY. Students along with business community liaison, Jimmie Wilson. Students had the opportunity to talk with Senator Turner and his staff on the day to day operations of his office, and what he does while in session at the capitol, and meetings he must attend when not in session.
The student leaders that shadowed Turner talked with him about leadership roles they had on center. Student Government Association president and Vice President Frank Rivera and Juedler Noel-Petit talked with him about some of their duties as a leader on center. Student leaders and Peer Mentors Courtney Sampson and Alexis Nelson also discussed their role as leaders and their future plans.
Students toured the capitol, and ended the day with watching the Senate vote on bills on he floor, and were recognized on the floor by Senator Turner and Senate President Robert Stivers.
