Carl D. Perkins student Dimitri Bien-Aime’ graduates with High Distinction!

 

On My 9th Carl D. Perkins Job Corps students Dimitri Bien-Aime’ completed part of his journey he set out on 2 ½ years ago. Dimitri come to the Perkins Job Corps center from Green Acres FL, in October 2011. Dimitri completed Office Administration, Work Base Learning (WBL) at the KY Career Center, then enrolled at the Big Sandy Community & Technical College in Prestonsburg, Ky. Dimitri adapted to college life with great enthusiman, and appreciation. Always stating, that he “was most appreciative of this opportunity that he has been given, and couldn’t have done it without the Job Corps program”.

Dimitri overcame obstacles while in college, with the biggest being the English language, as it is his 2nd language. This didn’t stop Dimitri from studying harder, and working long hours improving his language skills. Dimitri took a full 18 hours every semester and summer sessions, while staying on the Presidents & Deans list, He was also President of the Multicultural Student Culture Committee, member of Phi theta Kappa, and apart of KY’s Congressional forward to the fifth program. Dimitri also received National Recognition award from the All USA College Academy.  

Dimitri graduated with an Associate’s of Arts & Science degree with high distinction. He will attend college this fall to pursue his bachelors in business and chemistry. Dimitri has not decided on a college at this time, but did say he was thinking of Columbia University or Penn State.
