After a long cold and snowy Winter, Perkins welcomed in Spring, with hosting a “Spring Career Day” and Open House. On Thursday March 20th, 2014, 24 vendors emerged on the campus of the Perkins Job Corps center. Some that were on hand for the event: KY State Police, Federal Probation and Parole, KY State Parole, Emergency Medical Response, Prestonsburg Fire Dept., Wal-Mart, Lowes, McDonalds of East Ky. Several more were on hand to give students of the Perkins center, and 3 local high schools Sr. classes a time to explore and talk to different employers from around the tri county area.
Not only were there a host of business and law enforcement vendors, several colleges were on hand to discuss scholarships and other opportunities for upcoming students. Perkins had over 24 business and universities attend the job fair. The theme of this Springs Career Day was to “Learn, Connect, Share and Advance” and this is what the students did as they visited each booth and listened to what information was being shared with them as they began their new life journey in as little as 6 months.
