Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic the National Office of Job Corps took action early on to protect the students and staff of the Job Corps community by implementing an unscheduled Spring Break for students on March 16, 2020. Staff teleworking from home followed soon after. Along with the rest of the world, we continued to monitor the virus and take precautionary measures to ensure a safe learning environment for our students.
Distance Learning began on May 11, 2020 through the use of Google classroom to enable students to continue to pursue their educations. This week, June 15-19 the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps center staff began returning to the workplace to prepare for our students return to center. It is a phased in process in which staff work half the day on center and half the day teleworking from home to restart the normal operations process.
Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center along with the rest of the Job Corps community are following CDC guidelines including taking staff temperatures upon arrival, utilizing Personal Protective Equipment, and following social distancing protocols. Staff have completed multiple coronavirus training’s, cleaning of the entire facility, and are looking forward to our students return. We will continue to monitor, follow protocols and guidelines, and anticipate a phased return of students in July.
