Carl D. Perkins Security & Protective students learn valuable lessons during mock interviews.

As we know a mock interview, also known as a practice interview, is a simulation of an actual. It provides you with an opportunity to practice for an interview and receive feedback. This is exactly what Ms. Beverly Compton’s Security & Protective Services Students got to do today with the help of Mr. Gary Compton, KY State Probation Supervisor Mr. Compton conducted the mock interviews today during 5th block. Students were given ahead of time the overview of as a Probation and Parole Officer. Students showed up for the interview dressed in business attire, with resume in hand. Compton was impressed to see the list of certifications students receive at Perkins during their training. Use of Force, Tactical Handcuffing, CPR/First Aid, Oleoresin Capsicum(OC) Spray, Tactical Baton, Edged Weapon Defense, Emergency Response Belt, just to name a few. Students receive first class training, however if their interview skills are week, they may not get a chance to show off their skills.

Mock Interviews are completed throughout the training program for students, with various community member’s assisting with this activity. Students in turn get a variety of interviews with different styles and gender. The last phase of the training in Job Corps is the Career Transition Readiness Phase(CTR). Students update resumes, apply for jobs, and participate in activivites like the Mock Interviews to ensure success when graduating the program. Perkins Job Corps would like to thank Mr. Compton for taking time out of his workday to spend with our students.
