Carl D. Perkins Security & Protective Service Students worked event security for the well-known Harlem Globetrotters show at the East KY EXPO Center on Wednesday March 17th. Students ensured that the Trotters were not overwhelmed by fans during their pre-show warm ups on the floor. Students also assisted patrons to their seats, giving directions to other venue in the center and any additional support that was needed for the EXOP security staff.
the next evening on Thursday March 17th, students went back to the East KY EXPO center to work the Disney Live Shows. The students worked the 4:00 and 7:00 sold out shows. Students stayed busy, ensuring all children and adults alike stayed safe and enjoyed the shows.
This on the job training is so valuable for the students, especially these types of events. Its gives them so many learning opportunities with a different setting, and venues. Students are well prepared and ready to enter the workforce after completing the Security & Protective Services program at the Perkins Job Corps. Most students will put in over 300 hours of event and internships after they are half way through the class training. Students are well versed in a variety of events and situations and are work ready when they complete the program. Students already have a busy Spring and Summer with concerts, festivals, and drag racing scheduled.
