Carl D. Perkins Job Corps’ digital learning career technical training program for May is Harold Auxier’s Core/OSHA class.
Auxier has had 100 percent participation in distance learning since it began on May 11th. He also completed training for HPIP (High Performance Insulation Professionals) this month. Auxier earned high scores in this challenging training, and his hard work now opens the opportunity for construction students to earn this nationally recognized primary credential.
Auxier’s digital learning strategy combines the use of Google classroom, email, text, mail and social media to maintain class participation and student engagement. The digital conversion has allowed him to take attendance, give assignments, ensure participation and continue to mentor his students. Two students, Gabriella Younce and Jana Jarvis, achieved their OSHA-10 certifications on May 22nd.
Auxier frequently posts funny GIF’s and Memes of OSHA malpractice in his closed social media group to bring humor to his digital classroom and teaching and to keep students in good spirits.
Auxier thanks the Career Technical Training and Academic teams’ combined efforts to support digital learning and, most importantly, his students for their hard work in making the Core/OSHA class the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Digital Learning Trade of the Month.
