Y2Y and SGA also celebrated kindness day on November 13, during the Monday Morning center business assembly, serving hot chocolate in cups that students had written kind and inspirational quotes on, and doughnuts to all students and staff. Students and staff also covered the hallways with notes with kind words throughout the week.
Perkins Student Government Association (SGA) along with the assistance of the Youth2Youth Partners4Peace (Y2Y) Student Ambassadors painted parking spots in front of the main building at Perkins for the SGA to rent out to staff each week for fundraising. The SGA team is always looking for new fundraising opportunities to raise money for extra student activities. SGA has purchased several items for the student body, such as sweatshirts, backpacks throughout the year, and holds special events on center.
There will be different themes each week, the first being antiviolence and peace drawings by the students. Staff that are interested in purchasing spots for $5 a week, will be entered into a drawing a six names will be chosen each week. The Perkins Center always looking for innovative ideas to get students and staff involved with center activities and this fundraiser will benefit all students.
