Carl D. Perkins Job Corps trainee doubles wage earnings upon graduation!
“Job Corps helped me achieve the goals that I have always wanted for myself.” states Sanara Sidney, Advanced Security and Protective Services graduate.
Sidney earned her High School Diploma in 2016 in her hometown of South Carolina. She was 21 years old, working at a local retail store, earning a minimal wage when she realized the dis-satisfaction of her life. She knew she was destined for greater things. With some time and encouragement from her mother, Sidney stepped out of her comfort zone, left her customer service job and joined the job corps program looking for a stable career in security and protective services.
Sidney completed basic security and protective services training at Kittrell Job Corps prior to completing advanced security and protective services at Carl D. Perkins Job Corps. Job corps more than prepared her for the workforce, equipping Sidney with 16 certifications upon completion. Sidney is currently residing in Louisville, KY training as a correctional officer earning 14.42/hr. at Luther Luckett Correctional Facility. Job Corps helped Sidney develop a career, double her wage earnings, and equipped her with independent living skills to be successful. She left a note to future students stating: “Don’t give up on your dreams or on your goals that you have set for yourself.”
