Carl D. Perkins students and staff run 5K for the homeless shelter on Saturday November 5, 2015, with several students and staff receiving medals for 1st place and fastest time.  Floyd County is working on building a homeless shelter that has been a long time need of the county. The closest shelter is in Pike County, and it is filled to capacity most days.  Community members along with the Perkins Job Corps Center participated in the 5K to raise money for the project.

The Perkins Center will be assisting with more events in the upcoming months for the homeless shelter project.
