Students from the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps walked the walk and talked the talk during their recent job interviews with the Kentucky Department of Corrections – and, as a result, were all hired! Students Anthony Brown, Tre’Shawn Dillard, Jarvis Mattox, Marvin Lockett, Robert Mayer and Jared Jardine interviewed with the Kentucky Department of Corrections on Sept. 18 in Morehead, KY. All of the students are in the Advanced Training in Security & Protective Services class, except Dillard, who is enrolled in Carpentry.
Department of Corrections Human Resources Director Sherry Cole said, “We were nothing but impressed with the Perkins students’ appearance, interview skills and knowledge in their training.” The students will begin their training for their new careers at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville, KY, on Oct. 1.
Perkins Job Corps is the only Job Corps center in the nation to offer Advanced Training in Security & Protective Services. Students in the program attain a higher level of training, earn more nationally recognized certifications and receive valuable on-the-job training at high profile venues and events such as the Kentucky Derby, SEC Basketball Tournament, U2 concert, Cincinnati Bengals football games and Cincinnati Reds baseball games.
Carl D. Perkins Job Corps congratulates these young men on their hard work and new career path. The center also looks forward to continuing to work with the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
