Carl D. Perkins hosted National Commencement Day Friday, August 16, 2019 at 2:30 pm. 27 students, their families and peers gathered to celebrate their accomplishments. Community members including the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Big Sandy Community and Technical College, and Floyd County Schools Systems attended the celebration. Guest Speaker, Superintendent Of Floyd County Schools, Danny Adkins took his famous “selfie” picture with the graduating class before reminding them that “It takes a Village” to raise a child. Graduate Speaker, Emma Helman motivated her peers to keep pressing on stating “Appreciate where you are in your journey, even if its not where you want to be, Every Season has its purpose.” Following graduation ceremonies, students attended a reception held in their honor led by Chef Laurie Morgan of the Culinary Arts department.
