Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Has New Work Based Learning Partnership

Carl D. Perkins is proud to announce the new WBL partnership with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department. Students from the Perkins Advanced Training Security & Protective Services Program and Office Administration program began the internship on Wednesday 11/23/16. Advanced Training students will be working with the deputies on a daily basis learning their job duties. . Office administration student will work in the Sheriffs Tax Division office, performing data entry, answering and directing calls, and other office functions. Sheriff John Hunt,” Stated he was glad to have the students with the Sheriff’s Department”.

The Job Corps program focus on providing students with hands-on experience aligned with industry standards. This approach is best seen through the work-based learning program, which requires students to spend time in real work environments before they complete the program. The work-based learning program links classroom and career training to practical , on-the-job activities.
