Jonathan Greene, 23, from Flat Gap, KY, now earns a livable wage, thanks to Carl D. Perkins Job Corps and Big Sandy Community & Technical College.

Greene enrolled in the Other Training Program offered at Perkins through a partnership with BSC&TC. He completed classes in transportation and materials moving at Big Sandy Community & Technical College. Greene obtained his CDL permit and eventually his CDL license and landed a job with VanHoose Lumber in Prestonsburg, KY.

When Greene learned that he got the job at VanHoose, he expressed his appreciation to the center and center staff, saying, “Thanks for helping me. I feel like I have purpose now.”

Perkins Job Corps offers numerous other certification programs through the Other Program partnership with BSC&TC, including Certified Nursing Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Diesel Mechanic, Auto Tech, Collision Repair and Welding.
