Anthony Barrett, a recent Electrical graduate from Carl D. Perkins Job Corps (Perkins) is putting his training, and career plan into action by participating in a 4-year apprenticeship at Ken Houston Electric in Wilder, KY. Barrett joined Perkins in August of 2019 originally interested in completing the carpentry trade. He was the middle child of a single parent household from Covington, KY. He had dropped out of high school in his junior year and was working a fast food restaurant when a friend told him about the job corps program.

After completing his first week of Career Preparation Period, Barrett decided he wanted to study Electrical and become a certified Electrician as his ultimate career occupation. Barrett attributes his successful employment to the Carl D Perkins Job Corps program who helped him obtain his General Education Diploma, complete Electrical training under the direction of Mr. Davy Akers, and earn credentials in: NCCER Electrical 1, NCCER Introductory Craft Skills, NCCER Site Safety, OSHA-10 Core Curriculum and Construction Industry Certifications.
