On Thursday June 2, the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Culinary Class catered lunch for the David Schools 2016 gradation banquet in David KY.
Founded in 1974, the David School is located in the small community of David, Kentucky, from which it takes its name. The mission of The David School is to provide a comprehensive educational program for Appalachian high school dropouts and at risk youths who have limited financial resources and the potential to succeed in a non-traditional setting. Carl D. Perkins is proud to have a partnership with the David school, were seniors can come to the Job Corps and work towards certification in their trade of choice.
The Perkins culinary class with the guidance of Instructor Chef Shawn Cash prepared chicken, steak, green beans and loaded mashed potatoes with cake and peanut butter pie for desert. The students also served the guest during the event. This was a first class event from the table decorations, food and service stated community volunteer/Advocate Jean Rosenberg”. The Perkins Culinary class can use activities such as these to practice their skills. If the non-profit agency will supply the ingredients the class can prepare the food and décor for community service credit and on work base learning hours.
