On Thursday March 31, 7 Stduetns were honored for their academic acheivements at Big Sandy Community & Techinal College (BSCTC) in Prestonsburg, KY, during the Colleges Fifteenth Annual Honors Night Ceremony. The ceremony represents a opportuniy to celebrate academic accomplishments of the students. For students to achieve at this level not only requires students diligence and hard work, it also requre the love, support and encourament of family, friends and caring faculty and staff.
College students 22 year old Rocky Troian, from Navarre,Fl Carpentry and now is enrolled in the HVAC program and on the Deans list. Devonte Lewis, 22 years old from Louisville, KY majoring in Criminal Justice and on the Deans list. Edward Strawder 24 years old from Elkins West, Virginia majoring Criminal Justice and on the Presidents list. Dwayne Clarke 24 years old from Covington, GA majoring in business Administration and on the Deans list. Dwayne will be graduatiing in May with an assosicates degree in Business Administration. Jonathan Day, 24 years old from Somerset, Ky is majoring in HVAC and on the Deans list. Perkins Recent graduate Christine Taul, from Bonnieville, KY will graduate in May with an associate of arts degree in business and on the Presidents list. Austin Lafferty, 18 years old of Prestosnburg, KY is in the HVAC program, and on the Deans list.
When students complete all of the program requirments of their training in the Job Corp Program, have the required TABE score and are in good standing with the Center Standards of Conduct, they are eligabe to stay and attend the Advanced Training College portion of the program. The staff and students at the Carl D. Perkins are proud of the students accomplisments and success and wish them the very best in the rest of their college career. Mr. Rainey Center Director at Perkins, Jeana McKinzid, Student Trainind Director at Perkins and Jerry Tackett career Techinal Training manager attedned the banquet with the students. Mr. Rainey stated” He was so proud of our students, when they walked across the stage to receve their awards”.
