Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center students Cheer on Seniors.

On Friday, May 17, 2014, the Carl D. Perkins Security & Protective Services (SPS) students assisted the Big Sandy Area Development District with their annual Senior Olympic games. The games were held at Dewey Dam in the Jenny Wiley State Park. This makes the 7th year the center has been assisting with the event. The SPS students were under the supervision of Mr. Jeff Case and along with the Business Community Liaison Jimmie Slone.

The games is a great opportunity for the students to give back to the community, while making the Seniors experiences in the games more meaningful especially for those whose family members where unable to attend. The students not only assist with the games but cheer the Olympiads on with great enthusiasm and it really gets them in the spirit of the games.

This event is just one of the many that the Carl D. Perkins students and staff assist with annually. In the month of May the center has put in over 500 hours in community service projects.
