Carl D. Perkins hold their quarterly community Relations Council Meeting and has great community support. Mr. Thomas Rainey Center Director gave the end of the year presentation and Jimmie Slone Business Community Liaison gave her community events update to over 40 community members that attended the meeting today at the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center. The KY and West Virginia CTR & OA staff also attended. Members of the council, gave suggestions of upcoming events, and job shadowing opportunities for next week’s National Job Shadow week. Floyd County Judge Ben Hale, offered to have students come down and shadow him in his office for job shadow week, other employers that wanted to schedule a day, were Jerimiah Parsons manager of the Super 8 Motel , Grace Nelson Community Liaison for Anthem Blue Cross.
The purpose of the community Relations council’s to serve as a liaison between the center and the surrounding communities. The council is made of business, civic and educational organizations, elected officials, law enforcement and other agencies, staff and student representation of the center. The council meets quarterly to consider issues of mutual interest to the center and community.
Perkins continues to receive support from the local community in their mission on training and educating at risk youth, and would like to thank all who took time out of their day to attend today’s meeting.
