Carl D. Perkins hosted its annual Spring College/Career day on March 2, 2017. This year the center had forty-five employers and colleges attend the event, along with over three-hundred fifty local high school students. Companies and Universities in attendance were: Toyota, Kelly Services, Core Civic, Secure KY, Golden Corral, Tipton Staffing, Averitt Express, Anthem, Pikeville Medical Leader, Pikeville Medical Center, Highlands Regional Medical Center, St. Josephs Medical Center, Ghearheart Communications Citizens National Bank, Marshalls Dept. Store, 1st. Commonwealth Bank, KY Career Center, U S Army Corps of Engineers, US Army, UPS, Big Sandy Health Care, Apple shop Communions, KY Spin Program, Mt. Comprehensive Care, KY Office for the Blind, Wal-Mart, Lowes, McDonalds, University of KY, University of Pikeville, Lindsey Wilson, Big Sandy Community & Technical College, EPIC, Floyd County Health Dept., Big Sandy Community & Technical College Respiratory Class, South Floyd High School, North Pt. Academy, University of KY’s College of Social Work, US Big Sandy Prison, Prestonsburg Fire Dept., Pike County Emergency Simulator, KY Outreach, Big Sandy Technical & Community College Workforce Solutions, and East KY Broadcasting.

Perkins students along with local high school students had the opportunity to visit each employer and university, during the event. Several students got to fill out applications for employment.
