Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Business Community Liaison (BCL) and KY Out Reach Admissions Counselor (OA) attend Shaping our Appalachian region (SOAR) innovation summit

On June 6, the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center’s BCL Jimmie Wilson and KY OA Valerie Ratliff attended the SOAR Innovation Summit at the East KY EXPO center in Pikeville, KY. Modern solutions to historic challenges was the theme for the day. The SOAR’s mission is to expand job creation, enhance regional opportunity, innovation, and identify, improve the quality of life and support all those working to achieve these goals in Appalachian Kentucky. Mrs. Wilson had the opportunity to speak with the Governor and Congressman Rogers about some upcoming events at the Perkins center and innovative practices that keeps Perkins one of the top performing Job Corps Centers in the nation.

The day was filled with speakers such as Congressman Hal Rogers, KY Governor Matt Bevin, Dr. Tome Friden CDC Director, KY Senate President Robert Stivers, and KY Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo.
