On May 12, 2017 the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps held its Spring graduation ceremony.
Perkins had twenty one students that participated in the graduation ceremony, and had many family and friends travel to share their big day. Perkins was honored to have Commissioner of Workplace Standards for the state of Kentucky Mr. Ervin Dimeny. Dimeny served the past eight years as manager of Court Interpreting Services for Kentucky’s Administrative Language Access Program and administered the interpreter training and certification program.
Under Dimenys leadership, the interpreter training and certification program received broad acclaim for its collaborative efforts with universities and industry experts to create standards and best practices for training interpreters, judges and practitioners. The initiatives proved effective in helping the AOC meet the growing demand for language access in Kentucky courts. In this role , he worked closely with the Office of General Counsel on various federal and state laws related to compliance matters.
Dimeny received a bachelor’s degree from the Hungarian Baptist Theological Seminary, a Masters of Divinity in Theology from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
Dimeny talked to the graduating class, stating he came to them with one wish, that they continue to have these qualities, discipline, consistency and making the right decisions. That they have already showed these qualities when they chose to enroll in the Job Corps Program. He also told students to set realistic and achievable goals, and follow up on these goals. After Dimenys words of wisdom, the ceremony continued and afterwards, students and their families, friends and staff members enjoyed a receptions that was prepared by the Culinary Arts Class.

Hannah Fowler, 21 years old from Whitesburg, KY completed Office Administration. Lakeria Smith, 21 years old from Hanes City FL, received her high school diploma and completed carpentry. Jeremy Boyer, 20 years old from Georgetown, KY received his high school and completed Culinary Arts. John Burton, 20 years old from Shepherdsville, KY received his high school diploma and completed Culinary Arts . Cherish Vires, 19 years old from Campton, KY completed the Culinary program. Cameron Brown, 17 years old from Lexington, KY received his high school diploma and completed Culinary Arts. Isaiah Cano, 19 years old from Tampa, FL received his high school diploma and completed Office Administration. Jade Smith 17 years old from Olive Hill, KY received her high school diploma and completed Office Administration.
