The Perkins Job Corps Center had the opportunity to host a visit from Kentucky Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton. Lt. Governor Hampton visited the center on Friday April 6 from 9:00-1:00. Lt. Governor Hampton spent the day visiting classrooms, touring the campus, and talking with students and staff. The Perkins Culinary Class prepared a 5 star lunch experience for Lt. Governor Hampton, during her visit preparing Chick Pea Salad, Grilled Salmon, Asparagus’ and Rice Pilaf. Students then presented a tray of fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate with a basil cream cheese. Lt. Governor Hampton finished her visit, with the Office Administration and Security & Protective Services Classes. Lt. Governor Hampton shared some of her background while growing up in Detroit. She also talked with students about career paths, and to always learn new things and while growing up that “Optimism kept her thinking that she would never be stuck in Poverty”. Carl D.
