Carl D. Perkins Job Corps recently heard from a former student who is now working in the Job Corps program, He also is continuing his education with the goal of getting the needed degree and qualifications to move up in the Job Corps organization. His ultimate goal is to serve as a center director of a Job Corps center.
Davis’ experience at Perkins Job Corps helps him in his RA position because he understands the challenges and rewards of being a Job Corps student. “There were times where I felt like I wanted to give up and throw in the towel,” Davis recalls. But he credits many people at the center for helping him complete the OA program, remain positive, and put the pieces in place for future success.
He also understands keenly the value of determination. “One thing about me is that I am determined and goal oriented.” His advice to trainees currently enrolled at Perkins Job Corps is to “strive to do your best no matter what.”
Davis said his motto is “Never make MAJOR decisions in TEMPORARY situations — hold on, stay strong, and things will work in the end.”
