Carl D. Perkins Construction students help with work on Jenny Wiley Amphitheater

Perkins Job Corps Construction Students assisted with Construction that started Monday March 30 to remove concrete so they can fix a drainage issue that is causing the center of the stands to sink.”In the past year we’ve had a bathroom renovation, fitting room renovations and now were getting concrete updated and it’s been here since 1961, so it’s way passed due for an update” says Executive Director for Jenny Wiley Theater, Martin Childers.

Officials tell us the look of the theater won’t change much but it will be a safer place to sit and enjoy the show.

“Students will be assisting  in replacing the concrete after they fix the drainage problem after the concrete, drainage on top, drainage underneath to get all this straightened out. Then we’ll have new concrete, seats will be put back in and we’ll be ready to go.
The Carl D. Perkins students will work throughout the week, assisitng with this project, while also getting on the job training in their career path.
