Students get valuable job experience at high profile event
Not many young people can say they were within arm’s reach of the pop sensation Taylor Swift, however 30 students from the Security & Protective Services class at the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps can. Students from the class provided security for the Taylor Swift “Reputation Stadium Tour” on June 30 at the Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, KY. Students worked in various spots throughout the stadium, including on stage, behind stage, and the main entrance area.
SPS students had more than just thousands of fans to deal with, They also had record heat to cope with and a list of rules of what guest could bring in the stadium to enforce.
The Taylor Swift concert is just one of several high profile events that students from the Perkins Security y& Protective Services class and the center’s advanced training Security Class have worked. Events such as these give security students valuable hands-on job experience , and provide the on-the-job training they need to be sought-after employees.
