Amanda Short, found out about the Perkins Job Corps Program, and contacted staff to learn more. Amanda knew that in order to provide a better life for her 3 children she would have to make a change. Amanda completed the enrollment requirements and began her journey to get her high school diploma, and Certified Nurses Aid through the Non-Residential Other Training Program though a partnership with Big Sandy Community &  Technical College.

Amanda received her high school diploma on June, 28 and completed her CNA training at BSC&TC. Amanda has several reasons to celebrate, she just landed a job as a CNA at the Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, KY. Amanda states “If it wasn’t for the Job Corps Program, and the support from the staff at Perkins, I would not have had the courage to do this.”
