A little over two years ago, Yvonne N. arrived at the Boxelder Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center speaking very little English.  Recently immigrating to the United States from Africa, Yvonne had set her sights on obtaining an education and creating a life in her new Country. 

Now, after successfully graduating from Job Corps, Yvonne is working full-time as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, SD.  Bridget Fechner, Director of Nursing, spoke highly of Yvonne, “She is a favorite amongst our staff and residents, continually receiving ‘praise cards’ and high marks on her evaluations.  Her attitude is very positive, and she’s a great employee.”

Yvonne thinks Job Corps put her on the right path.  “I earned my CNA certification and my High School Diploma at the Center, which helped me get my job with the Good Samaritan Society,” said Yvonne.  “I’m also enrolling at South Dakota State University to get more training and advance my career.  Without Job Corps, I think I would be unemployed.”
