“My goal is to retire at age 45, and while at Job Corps, I knew I had to keep my eyes on that prize and get as much training as possible,” said Airman First Class Anthony when looking back at his Job Corps experience.
Anthony, age 20, graduated from the Boxelder Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in April 2010, and was enlisted in the United States Air Force less than two months later. After completing his basic training, he went on to Security Forces Special Training to prepare for his current position in Security Forces, Law Enforcement and Base Security at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. When giving advice to current and prospective Job Corps students, Anthony says, “Just find out what your motivation is, and always keep that in mind.”
In December 2010, Anthony was married to another Boxelder graduate, Simone L, who attained certification as a Nursing Assistant while in the program. “I had so many opportunites that I never would have thought possible – student leadership, traveling to conferences and hands-on experience in a medical facility,” said Simone. “It’s hard to believe I had those experiences.” Simone is currently pursuing her LPN, and is focused on a career in the health care industry.
Anthony and Simone also recently purchased their first new vehicle, a 2010 Ford Focus. “Yeah, it wasn’t my first choice, but Simone wasn’t interested in getting a F-150,” said Anthony.
Boxelder Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center wishes Anthony and Simone best wishes as they continue on their path to success!
