Faces of Job Corps – Linda S.

Due to unfortunate unstable living conditions, Linda was forced to drop out of high school and search for employment and new living conditions.  She knew that she needed her education in order to find good employment, but did not know where to turn.  Linda attended church regularly and a member from her congregation informed her about Job Corps.  Knowing that she quickly needed to find a solution to her situation, Linda called Job Corps and was enrolled into the Blue Ridge Job Corps Medical Office Assistant program.  Linda has excelled at Blue Ridge, accomplishing:

  • High School Diploma
  • Driver’s License
  • Medical Office Support Certifications
  • Work Base Learning Internship

The staff and doctors at Linda’s work site, Smyth Regional OB/GYN Office, were so impressed with her professionalism and skills, that they asked her to stay for an extended period of time so they could show her everything about the office and procedures they conduct.  Linda became so inspired that she has decided to continue her education as a Medical Assistant so she can return to Smyth OB/GYN, hopefully for full-time permanent employment.
