Ke’tana Chamblee
Age: 24
Hometown: Ahoskie, NC
Region: Philadelphia
Center: Blue Ridge
Dates enrolled: 11/14/2017 – 9/27/2019
Training: Certified Nursing Assistant

“I came to Blue Ridge Job Corps because I wanted a better career and life for myself,” explained 2019 graduate Ke’tana Chamblee. She explained that she always wanted to help others as either a teacher or a nurse, so the opportunity to pursue a career in health care at no cost was a perfect fit.
Upon arriving on center in 2017, Ke’tana began working towards her certification as a nursing assistant, which she would earn in 2019. She bought into the program very quickly, and ultimately became a “First Friend,” serving as a mentor to new students as they arrived at Blue Ridge. Ke’tana was also involved in community service off campus, serving at the local food bank.
Upon graduation, Ke’tana began working as a CNA at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, and has been there for over two years. In addition to her full-time job, Ke’tana will be attending Bryant & Stratton College in Hampton, VA, starting in August, as she seeks to become a Registered Nurse. Ultimately, she plans to pursue a Master’s degree in nursing on her way to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
“Take in all the knowledge that you can,” Ke’tana advised. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
