Blue Ridge Job Corps Find the True Spirit of Fellowship at D.C. Food Assistance Center

Blue Ridge Job Corps Find the True Spirit of Fellowship at D.C. Food Assistance Center

While participating in the 15th Annual United ResCare SGA Leadership Conference our Blue Ridge Student Government Delegation, was assigned to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

This was a great opportunity for our students to experience the reality and value of helping others from an Urban Perspective.

We worked with volunteers from every walk of life, retirees, writers, teachers, some of whom were unemployed themselves, working on various degrees, and even some parolees.

As we bagged and boxed food products that were distributed to those men, women and children in need, regardless of race, creed, color or condition, words fall short in an effort to portray the True Spirit of Love and Fellowship that we all experienced.

It was such a positive moment, that when it came time to leave, none of us wanted to go.

As we left, you could almost hear the Good Samaritan say “Well done Blue Ridge!”

Prior to coming to the conference each of the twenty participating centers had to create a presentation on their community service to be judged in competition.

When the winner was announced at the banquet the last night of the conference , evidently the judges all declared the 1st Place Winner of the 15th Annual United ResCare SGA Community Service Project :

“Blue Ridge Job Corps Center.”
