James T. Harris, Center Director of Dr. Benjamin L. Hook Job Corps Center attended The National Forum on Youth Violence “Memphis Plan” session, where he gained insight into how the plan will be implemented. At the direction of the Obama Administration, the Departments of Justice and Education, in concert with four other federal agencies and six cities, launched the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention. This national initiative focuses on solutions concerning youth and gang violence, raising awareness, and elevating the issue to one of national significance. Memphis is one of the six cities chosen for this study. Members of the Obama Administration were in Memphis for this briefing, including Ralph DiBattista, National Deputy Director of Job Corps, who visited the Hooks Job Corps Center and received a guided tour from student leaders.
