No. 15 for Job Corps
The Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks Job Corps Center celebrates its 15th anniversary with an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday September 28, 2012 at 1555 McAlister Dr., off Millbranch between Holmes and Stateline.
The event, which is open to the public, will feature tours of the newly remodeled dorms.
The national Job Corps initiative, a dropout recovery and empowerment program for youth, serves more than 65,000 people each year at 125 centers in 48 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The workforce training program, administered and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, targets those from 16 to 24. Since being established in 1965, Job Corps has trained more than two million people.
