On October 19, 2011 the Senate President of Puerto Rico, Thomas Rivera Schatz visited the Barranquitas Job Corps Academy and met with the Center Director, Pedro L. Cabrera to discuss center needs.  The senator expressed to the local news that the center is spectacular and made a commitment to help the center with funds to repair the center entrance and the Mayor of the Municipality of Barranquitas who was accompanying him also commited to support our program also.
