In light of recent events in Connecticut, on December 19, 2012 Barranquitas Job Corps Academy participated in a school shooting drill led by EMT Instructor Stephanie Sager and Safety Manager Jose Vazquez. All students and staff participated together, then each classroom practiced their own drill procedure. Pictured above is the EMT class following instructions to: stay low to the ground, crawl into a small practice room, and the instructor will lock all doors and turn off all lights and join the students last making sure all students are accounted for. Although an emotional practice for students and staff, all educational institutions are becoming more aware that we should prepare and preplan for such events.
