The Bamberg Job Corps Center is looking forward to the Great American Smoke Out is always observed on the third Thursday, November 18, 2010 here on center. A speaker from the Orangeburg Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC), Ann Wethers will be speaking to the students the importance of staying smoke free. Smokers will give up smoking for a day in exchange for sweets which will be given from Mr. Angus Kirkland, TEAP Specialist and Joann Stroman, Wellness Manager of Job Corps Center. The Great American Smoke Out is always a success here at the center. Students will hand over their cigarette packs to Mr. Kirkland who will labor each of them. At the end of the day, student can come and pick up their cigarette packs or they can just call it quits. The Great American Smoke Out is to encourage smokers to plan to quit, or plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.
